Thu Apr 10 07:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Family of Four Perishes in Early Morning House Fire in My Tho

**My Tho, Tien Giang Province –** A devastating house fire in My Tho city claimed the lives of four members of the same family early this morning, April 10th. The fire, which originated in the wooden attic of a single-story house with a loft, quickly engulfed the 50 square-meter home located in a narrow alleyway on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street.

According to local authorities, the fire broke out around 1:00 AM at the residence of Huynh Thi Thuy Tien (49). Despite the efforts of neighbours armed with fire extinguishers and water hoses, the flames spread rapidly, hampered by the narrow alley and the locked main entrance of the house.

Four individuals were trapped inside: Tien, her husband (50), her sister (48), and her niece (18). While neighbours attempted to break down the door, the intense flames and double-locked entrance prevented them from entering.

More than 30 firefighters and multiple fire trucks arrived at the scene, but faced challenges accessing the deeply embedded house due to the narrow alley, only slightly wider than a meter. Firefighters worked quickly to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring houses. They also had to overcome structural obstacles to locate and extract the victims.

After more than an hour, the fire was brought under control. Sadly, all four occupants were found dead; two in the attic, one on the ground floor near the front door, and one in the bathroom. The fire also destroyed valuable possessions including two motorcycles, a bicycle, a television, and other electrical appliances.

The victims’ family is now mourning their loss. Tien worked as a factory worker, while her husband was a security guard. Their daughter is currently studying at a university in Ho Chi Minh City.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh has issued a dispatch instructing the Tien Giang People’s Committee to offer condolences, support, and assistance to the bereaved family. Authorities are working closely with the police to determine the cause of the tragic incident.
