**Ramanathapuram, April 10, 2025** – A two-month fishing ban will be enforced in Ramanathapuram district, beginning April 15th and lasting until June 14th, District Collector Simranjeet Singh Kahlon announced on Thursday. The ban applies to all trawlers, including mechanized boats, and aims to protect marine resources during the fish breeding season in the Palk Straits. Fishermen are required to anchor their boats by midnight on April 14th. The government will provide financial assistance to fishermen during the ban period, enabling them to carry out boat repairs and meet their basic needs.
