Wed Apr 09 02:37:00 UTC 2025: ## CSK’s Fielding Blunders Cost Them Fourth Straight IPL Loss

**Chennai, India** – Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered their fourth consecutive loss in the Indian Premier League (IPL), falling to Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 18 runs. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad attributed the defeat primarily to poor fielding, highlighting dropped catches that allowed PBKS batsmen to accumulate crucial extra runs.

PBKS, after winning the toss and electing to bat, initially struggled, reaching 83/5. However, a stunning counter-attack led by Priyansh Arya’s century (103 off 42 balls) and crucial contributions from Shashank (52*) and Jansen (34*) propelled them to a challenging 219/6. Khalid Ahmed (2/45) and Ravichandran Ashwin (2/48) were the most successful CSK bowlers.

In response, CSK got off to a strong start with a 61-run opening partnership between Rachin Ravindra (36) and Devon Conway (69). A further 90-run stand between Conway and Shivam Dube (42) kept the chase alive. Despite a late cameo from MS Dhoni (27), CSK fell short, managing 201/5. Lockie Ferguson (2/40) was PBKS’s most effective bowler.

Gaikwad praised Arya’s impressive innings but emphasized the significance of CSK’s dropped catches, stating that they cost the team dearly. He also noted positive aspects of CSK’s batting performance but reiterated the need for improved fielding, urging his team to enjoy the game and focus on executing the basics to avoid further errors.

Arya was named Player of the Match for his match-winning century. PBKS now sits fourth in the standings with three wins and one loss, while CSK remains near the bottom at ninth place with one win and four losses.
