Wed Apr 09 10:29:35 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka BJP MLAs’ Suspension Hampers Legislative Committee Work
**Bengaluru, April 9, 2025** – The suspension of 18 BJP MLAs from the Karnataka Assembly is hindering the work of crucial legislative committees, claims former Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S. Suresh Kumar. In a social media post, Mr. Kumar, himself a suspended MLA, highlighted the disruption to committee functions, including discussions and problem-solving efforts concerning public grievances.
Mr. Kumar cited the petitions committee, of which he is a member, as an example. He stated that the committee’s ability to resolve public issues has been significantly hampered by the Speaker’s suspension of the MLAs and the BJP’s subsequent decision to boycott committee meetings until the suspension is lifted. He appealed to Speaker U. T. Khader to revoke the suspension to allow the committees to resume their work effectively. The suspension, he argued, not only impacts the MLAs’ ability to perform their duties but also significantly affects the public they represent.
