**Chennai, April 9, 2025** – Arts and science colleges across Tamil Nadu are experiencing a surge in entrepreneurial activity, transforming campuses into hotbeds of innovation. Driven by a burgeoning startup culture, these institutions are actively bolstering their incubation cells and forging partnerships with industry leaders. This initiative is empowering students to pursue entrepreneurial ventures, injecting fresh energy and ideas into the state’s startup ecosystem.
Several prominent colleges are leading this charge. Madras Christian College (MCC), for example, established an incubation cell in 2022, providing funding of up to Rs. 1 lakh to eligible students and research grants to professors. MCC’s support has already yielded significant results, with incubated startups like Vividobots securing Rs. 2.5 crore in funding and establishing a dedicated R&D unit. Another, Allytriz Technologies, was recognized as one of the top 100 promising startups of 2024-2025.
Stella Maris College, with funding from MRF, launched its incubation center in 2023, focusing on supporting student and faculty startup ideas. The college has partnered with the TN-RISE Women Startup Council to provide further incubation support, business guidance, and skill-building training.
M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women is actively seeking external funding and angel investors to support its Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), which fosters entrepreneurship through workshops, competitions, and mentorship. Ethiraj College reports ten new startup initiatives, eight student-led, currently underway.
This entrepreneurial wave is not limited to major cities; tier-2 and tier-3 colleges are also beginning to embrace the startup culture, indicating a widespread transformation within Tamil Nadu’s higher education landscape.
