**Chennai, April 9, 2025** – Saidai S. Duraisamy, a former AIADMK legislator and Chennai Mayor, has called on the party leadership to emulate the reconciliatory approach of party founder M.G. Ramachandran and former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa. Duraisamy highlighted instances where both leaders had brought back former adversaries into the party’s fold, urging current leadership to follow suit for the party’s growth.

Duraisamy, a veteran figure within the AIADMK, also renewed his plea for an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. He argued that such an alliance is crucial to level the playing field against the ruling party’s significant financial resources and strong alliances. He warned that without a strong electoral showing, the AIADMK risks fading from the political landscape.
