Wed Apr 09 16:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Chaiwala’s Legal Battle: Court Orders NADRA to Respond in CNIC, Passport Cancellation Case

**Rawalpindi, Pakistan** – Social media star Arshad Khan, famously known as “Chaiwala,” is challenging the cancellation of his national identity card (CNIC) and passport in the Lahore High Court’s Rawalpindi Bench. The court has issued notices to the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and other relevant parties, demanding a response by April 17th.

Khan’s petition alleges the cancellation, reportedly triggered by a television rumor questioning his nationality, is illegal and jeopardizes his career. His lawyer argues Khan is a Pakistani citizen with verifiable lineage and that demanding proof of citizenship predating 1978 is unjust, citing the 1951 Pakistan Citizenship Act which guarantees citizens the right to a passport.

The government, however, contends the cancellation was lawful and justified, arguing Khan failed to provide sufficient documentation proving his Pakistani citizenship. The court has instructed government representatives to submit all relevant reports before the next hearing on April 17th. The case continues.
