Wed Apr 09 16:33:58 UTC 2025: ## Kerala CM Accuses BJP of Deceiving Christians Over Land Dispute
**Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala –** Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misleading Christian residents of Munambam, Kerala, regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act. Vijayan claims the BJP falsely portrayed the Act as a solution to their land dispute with the Kerala Waqf Board, concealing its lack of retrospective effect.
The CM defended the LDF government’s support for the Munambam residents’ fight to reclaim their land rights, citing the establishment of a commission to mediate a settlement, a commission whose legitimacy was upheld by the High Court. He further accused the BJP of hypocrisy, pointing to instances of alleged attacks on churches and priests in BJP-ruled states and citing a recent RSS publication speculating about the extent of Catholic Church properties in India.
Vijayan warned that the RSS, which he described as viewing Christians as enemies, might introduce legislation targeting Church properties. He predicted the BJP’s attempts to court Kerala’s Christian community would soon fail, revealing the RSS’s underlying communal agenda.
The Chief Minister also criticized the Union government’s response to US tariffs on Indian cash crops, stating it would severely harm Kerala’s agricultural sector, particularly small farmers. Finally, he addressed comments made by SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan, urging against actions that could fuel divisive agendas.
