**Bhubaneswar, Odisha – April 9, 2025** – Odisha police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against 11 senior Congress leaders and 5,000 unnamed party members for violence that erupted during a protest on March 27th. The “Vidhan Sabha Gherao” protest, organized by the Congress party, was held to condemn the rise in atrocities against women and girls.
The FIR, registered at the Capital Police Station on March 28th, names Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Charan Das and other prominent leaders including CLP leader Rama Chandra Kadam and several MLAs. The accused face charges including unlawful assembly, rioting, wrongful restraint, and criminal intimidation.
