**Chennai, April 9, 2025** – A 45-year-old man, R. Sam, was arrested by the Pondy Bazaar Traffic Investigation wing police on Tuesday for causing an accident. While Sam himself was not driving, police charged him after his 13-year-old son took his car without permission and crashed into a parked auto-rickshaw in Vadapalani.
The accident injured a security guard and another individual, who sustained head injuries and were hospitalized. The boy fled the scene after the collision. Sam, an employee at a private hospital, had parked his car on a nearby street due to a lack of parking near his home. He had asked his son to cover the car, but the boy instead took the keys and drove off.
Police registered a case against Sam, citing him responsible for the accident due to his negligence in securing the vehicle and car keys.
