**Belagavi, Karnataka – April 9, 2025** – Kaveri Pavadi Mallapure, a student from a humble background in Belagavi district, has secured fourth rank in the state’s Pre-University (PU) Arts stream examinations, scoring an impressive 594 marks. Mallapure, a student at the Government Pre-University College in Majalatti, achieved this feat despite facing significant personal and financial challenges.
Her mother, Mahadevi Mallapure, a farm worker, single-handedly raised Kaveri and her two brothers after the death of Kaveri’s father when she was just one year old. Mallapure’s academic success is a testament to her perseverance and her mother’s unwavering support. She achieved perfect or near-perfect scores in several subjects, including 100 in Economics and Sociology, and 99 in Kannada, History, and Political Science.
Mallapure’s journey has not been without obstacles. Initially, she lacked hostel accommodation, but received crucial support from philanthropist Mutturaj Kamble, who provided her with free boarding and lodging. She now plans to pursue further education at Karnatak College in Dharwad and prepare for competitive examinations. Her mother, filled with both joy and sorrow, expressed pride in her daughter’s achievement while mourning the absence of her late husband who would have been immensely proud. Her brothers will accompany her to Dharwad to assist with her transition and enrollment.
