**Bangkok, Thailand –** An Air India passenger has been banned from flying with the airline for 30 days after allegedly urinating on a fellow passenger during a flight from Delhi to Bangkok. The incident, which occurred on Air India flight AI 2336, involved 24-year-old Tushar Masand, who sources say was intoxicated after consuming two glasses of single malt whiskey. Mr. Masand allegedly urinated on a Japanese businessman seated in the adjacent seat 2D. A passenger seated next to the businessman also reported being affected by the incident.
While Air India confirmed an incident of unruly passenger behaviour in a statement, it did not detail the nature of the event until further reporting. The airline stated that its crew followed standard operating procedures and offered assistance to the affected passenger, an offer which was declined. An independent committee will investigate the incident and determine further action against Mr. Masand. Other airlines may also impose flying bans depending on the committee’s findings.
The incident has prompted a response from India’s Civil Aviation Minister, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, who stated that officials will be speaking with Air India to investigate. This incident follows several similar reported cases in the past two years involving passengers urinating on fellow flyers after allegedly consuming alcohol. The matter has been reported to authorities.
