NEW DELHI, April 9, 2025 – Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar ordered the seizure of a fair price shop at Andhra Pradesh Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday following a surprise inspection that revealed irregularities. The shop, Hindustan Agro Products Limited, was found to be operating against regulations. Minister Manohar cited discrepancies in rice bag weights (a one-kilogram shortage in 26-kg bags), subpar rice quality, and inadequate stock register maintenance. The shop, intended to be run by the Civil Supplies Department, was allegedly leased to private individuals who were only selling rice, violating established norms. The Minister, accompanied by the Secretary (Civil Supplies) and the AP Bhavan Resident Commissioner, expressed his outrage and pledged to establish a fully functional, department-run ration store within a month to ensure the supply of quality rice and other essential commodities.
