**Mysuru, April 9, 2025** – The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) is accelerating its electrification project for tribal settlements (“haadis”) in Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka. A review meeting chaired by CESC Chairman and MLA Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the initiative, which aims to electrify 31 villages benefiting over 2,000 families.

The ₹40 crore project, described as a significant investment in rural infrastructure, has faced challenges securing clearances for work on forest land, as 52% of the district is forested. Despite this, a key milestone was achieved with the approval for electrification in Palar tribal haadi in the Male Mahadeshwara Hills. Authorities aim to complete the project within three months.

Deputy Commissioner Shilpa Nag highlighted the progress, emphasizing the government’s unprecedented allocation for tribal development. CESC officials assured continued efforts, emphasizing proactive communication to resolve any further delays related to forest clearances. The meeting also reviewed the progress of other energy schemes, including Gruha Jyothi, Ganga Kalyana, Kusum-B, and Kusum-C, with ongoing feeder and transformer maintenance campaigns to improve service delivery.
