Tue Apr 08 15:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Uncapped Arya Blasts Fastest IPL Century

**Chandigarh, India** – Priyansh Arya, an uncapped player purchased by Punjab Kings for ₹3.8 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, has created history by smashing the fastest century by an uncapped player in IPL history. His whirlwind innings of 103 runs off just 42 balls, against Chennai, included seven fours and nine sixes. This is also the joint-fourth fastest century in IPL history.

Arya’s meteoric rise includes a previous highlight of hitting six consecutive sixes in an over during the Delhi Premier League. His consistent performance in the DPL, where he scored 608 runs at a strike rate of 198.69 and an average of 67.56, including 43 sixes in ten innings, caught the attention of several IPL franchises before the auction. The bidding war for his services between Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore ultimately saw Punjab Kings secure his talent.

His path to the IPL has been marked by both triumphs and setbacks. While he trained under Sanjay Bharadwaj, the former coach of Gautam Gambhir, and honed his skills alongside established players like Gambhir, Nitish Rana, and Unmukt Chand, a technicality regarding age regulations prevented him from playing in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup. Despite scoring runs in the Under-19 trials, he was deemed ineligible due to not having previously participated in Under-16 age-group tests. This resulted in a three-year delay before he could break into the senior Delhi team.

Arya’s recent success includes a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against seasoned bowlers like Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Piyush Chawla, just before the IPL auction. He was Delhi’s highest run-scorer in the tournament, accumulating 325 runs at a strike rate of 176.63. While he had a relatively slow start to IPL 2025, with scores of 47, 8, and 0 in his first three matches, his century against Chennai demonstrates his immense potential and explosive batting style. The young batsman is set to be a key player for Punjab Kings in the ongoing season.
