**Baikonur, Kazakhstan –** A Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft carrying NASA astronaut Jonny Kim and two Russian cosmonauts, Sergey Ryzhikov and Alexey Zubritskiy, successfully launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The launch, which occurred as scheduled, marks the beginning of a six-month mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
The trio is expected to dock at the ISS approximately three hours after launch. During their mission, Lt. Commander Kim, a U.S. Navy flight surgeon and naval aviator, will participate in scientific research and technology demonstrations aimed at advancing future space exploration and benefiting life on Earth.
Joining a crew already present at the ISS, Lt. Commander Kim, Mr. Ryzhikov, and Mr. Zubritskiy will contribute to ongoing experiments and operations alongside astronauts from NASA, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and Roscosmos.
