**Chennai, April 8, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu government announced plans to improve infrastructure in the state, addressing concerns raised in the State Assembly Tuesday. A ₹1.62 crore project will provide road connectivity to Kadamban Kombai, a remote tribal hamlet in Coimbatore district, home to 24 families. This follows a calling attention motion by AIADMK MLA A.K. Selvaraj, who highlighted the inadequacy of the currently sanctioned two-meter-wide road. Rural Development Minister I. Periyasamy confirmed that the project, under the Mudalvarin Grama Salaigal Membattu Thittam (MGSMT)-2024-25, has received forest department approval and is currently out to tender. The government also stated it’s collaborating with the Forest Department to improve road access in the Jawadhu and Kalvarayan hills.

Separately, the need for a high-level bridge near Mundiyampakkam on the Chennai-Tiruchi National Highway (NH 45) was also addressed. Public Works Minister E.V. Velu explained that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is undertaking a ₹41.53 crore project to construct vehicular and light vehicular underpasses to mitigate identified black spots near Mundiyampakkam and Orathur Cut Road. Service roads are currently under construction, and the NHAI will expedite the project’s completion.
