Tue Apr 08 06:08:36 UTC 2025: ## Telangana High Court Upholds Death Sentences in 2013 Dilsukhnagar Bomb Blast Case

**Hyderabad, April 8, 2025** – The Telangana High Court today dismissed the appeals of five convicts sentenced to death for their roles in the 2013 Dilsukhnagar bomb blasts. The blasts, allegedly carried out by Indian Mujahideen operatives, killed 18 people and injured many more.

The court confirmed the death penalty awarded by the NIA Special Court in 2016, upholding the convictions of Ahmed Siddibappa Zarrar (alias Yasin Bhatkal), Ajaz Shaikh, Zia Ur Rahman (alias Waqas), Asadullah Akthar (alias Haddi), and Mohammed Tahseen Akthar (alias Hassan). The five had filed an appeal in 2016 challenging the lower court’s verdict.

One accused, Mohd Riyaz (alias Riyaz Bhaktal), remains at large. The NIA investigated the case. The High Court’s decision brings closure to a long-running legal battle stemming from this devastating act of terrorism.
