**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh – April 8, 2025** – A three-year-old girl is recovering from severe burns to her hands and legs after allegedly being injured by her stepfather with a hot spatula. The incident prompted swift action from child welfare authorities.

The girl was rescued on Monday by the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) and presented to the Krishna district Child Welfare Committee (CWC), which subsequently admitted her to the Government-run Sishu Gruha.

State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) Chairman Kesali Appa Rao and NTR District Women Development and Child Welfare Project Director D. Sri Lakshmi visited the child on Tuesday to assess her condition. Mr. Appa Rao instructed ICPS protection officer Y. Johnson to ensure the girl receives proper medical care and that legal action is taken against those responsible. The police are expected to investigate the incident and file charges against the stepfather.
