Tue Apr 08 13:35:06 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Establishes Special Cells to Aid Non-Resident Telugus

**Vijayawada, April 8, 2025** – The Andhra Pradesh state government has announced the creation of special cells in each district to address the concerns of Non-Resident Telugus (NRTs). This initiative aims to streamline the process of resolving issues faced by NRTs, who often encounter delays when dealing with land disputes, property issues, financial frauds, and matrimonial disputes through existing channels.

The new cells, operating within District Collectorate premises, will act as a single-window system. Each cell will be staffed by a designated Special Officer (NRT Affairs) from the Mandal Revenue Officer cadre, handling administrative and property matters, and a Special Police Officer (NRT Affairs) – a Sub-Inspector or Circle Inspector – to address criminal and civil cases.

The government cited the increasing number of complaints from NRTs and the inefficiencies of the current system, which often involved lengthy judicial processes and geographical challenges for those living abroad, as the impetus for this change.

A dedicated online platform will be launched by the NRT Society, allowing NRTs to lodge complaints, track their progress, and communicate directly with the special cells. Video conferencing facilities will also be provided for those unable to visit in person. The initiative aims to improve transparency, efficiency, and accountability, fostering stronger ties between the state government and the Telugu diaspora and encouraging further investment. The cells will also offer basic legal guidance and connect NRTs with relevant professionals.
