HYDERABAD, April 8, 2025 – The South Central Railway (SCR) has announced its highest-ever gross originating revenue of ₹20,452 crore for the 2024-25 financial year, exceeding the previous record by ₹117 crore. This success is attributed to strong performance in both freight and passenger segments.
The increase in passenger revenue, reaching ₹5,710 crore, is a result of strategic initiatives to meet rising demand. These included running approximately 3,500 special trains and adding over 10,000 extra coaches to existing express trains. This allowed the SCR to carry 263.2 million passengers. Other revenue streams also performed exceptionally well, with a record ₹513.6 crore generated from parcels, ticket checking, parking fees, catering, and advertisements.
Freight revenue also reached record levels at ₹13,825 crore, facilitated by improved infrastructure, efficient wagon management, and customer-centric initiatives, resulting in the transport of 144.10 million tonnes of goods.
General Manager Arun Kumar Jain praised the team’s efforts in achieving these remarkable results.
