Tue Apr 08 16:18:00 UTC 2025: ## Two Delivery Workers Drown in Shamirpet Canal
**Hyderabad, April 8, 2025** – A celebratory outing turned tragic for a group of food delivery workers in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Two young men, identified as 33-year-old Krishna and 24-year-old Yashwanth, drowned in the Shamirpet Cheruvu canal.
The men were among a group of ten friends who had visited the Katta Maisamma temple in Shamirpet to give thanks after receiving their salaries. Following their visit, the group, all employed by a food delivery app, went to a nearby section of the canal to cook and socialize. While some consumed alcohol, Krishna and another friend abstained.
Later in the afternoon, Krishna, Yashwanth, and another friend, Praveen, entered the canal for a swim, despite none of them knowing how to swim. They quickly got into trouble and struggled in the water. While two others attempted a rescue, only Yashwanth was pulled out, but he was unresponsive. Krishna’s body was later recovered by police.
Shamirpet police have opened an investigation into the incident.
