**NEW DELHI, April 7, 2025** – The newly appointed Palestinian Ambassador to India, Abdullah Mohammad A. Abu Shawesh, strongly condemned ongoing Israeli attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, asserting that Palestinians are the indigenous people of Palestine. In a press conference Monday, Ambassador Shawesh presented video evidence documenting the killings of Palestinian civilians by Israeli armed forces.
He underscored that the scale of loss from Israeli attacks is immense, stating, “The question is not whether any of us lost relatives, but how many?” He cited Mahatma Gandhi’s support for Palestinian self-determination, claiming Gandhi stated that Palestine belongs to Palestinians as England belongs to the English.
Ambassador Shawesh criticized international media for insufficient coverage of the violence in both Gaza and the West Bank, arguing that Israeli forces are carrying out indiscriminate killings and attacks against civilians. He described the situation in the West Bank as equally dire as that in Gaza.
Blaming Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for fostering an unending conflict, the ambassador linked Netanyahu’s rhetoric to the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, alleging that Netanyahu’s opposition to the Oslo Accords incited Yigal Amir, Rabin’s assassin. Ambassador Shawesh, who arrived in India two months ago, accused Netanyahu of systematically dismantling the peace process.
