Tue Apr 08 11:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Comedian Kunal Kamra’s Shows Pulled from BookMyShow Amidst Controversy

**Mumbai, India** – Comedian Kunal Kamra is embroiled in a new controversy after his shows were reportedly removed from the ticketing platform BookMyShow. The removal followed Kamra’s satirical comments about Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, during a recent stand-up performance. These remarks sparked backlash, leading to police complaints against the comedian.

Kamra publicly accused BookMyShow of removing his shows in response to the pressure, demanding access to his audience data in an open letter. BookMyShow denied direct involvement, stating in an official statement that show listings are determined by organizers and venues, not the platform itself. They emphasized their neutrality and compliance with Indian law, adding that artists remain free to sell tickets through their own websites.

The matter has reached the Bombay High Court, where Kamra is challenging an FIR filed against him for allegedly making a “traitor” comment about Shinde. The court has adjourned the case until April 16th, pending responses from the Mumbai police and a Shiv Sena MLA. Kamra’s lawyer requested the comedian be allowed to participate via video conferencing due to reported death threats. The case continues to unfold.
