Tue Apr 08 11:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Lucknow Super Giants Post Mammoth Total Against KKR in IPL 2025 Clash

**Kolkata, India** – The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) set a challenging 239-run target for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their IPL 2025 match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. LSG posted their second-highest ever IPL total, reaching 238/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

A strong opening partnership between Mitchell Marsh (81 off 48 balls, including six fours and five sixes) and Aiden Markram (47 off 28 balls, four fours and two sixes) laid the foundation, adding 99 runs for the first wicket. Markram fell to Harshit Rana in the 11th over. Marsh then shared a 71-run stand with Nicholas Pooran (87* off 36 balls, seven fours and eight sixes), before being dismissed by Andre Russell in the 15th. Pooran and Abdul Samad (6) added a further 51 runs for the third wicket before Samad was bowled by Rana in the 19th over. David Miller remained unbeaten on 4.

KKR’s chase got off to a shaky start. Quinton de Kock (15) was LBW to Akashdeep in the third over. Sunil Narine (30 off 13 balls, four fours and two sixes) provided a quickfire start but was caught by Markram off the bowling of Digvijay Singh Rath in the seventh over. Ajinkya Rahane (37) and Venkatesh Iyer (3) were at the crease at the close of play. Despite a strong powerplay (90/1 after 6 overs), KKR faced an uphill battle in the remaining overs.

The match saw notable individual performances, including Pooran’s impressive half-century and Narine’s explosive cameo. The head-to-head record between the two teams now stands at 3-2 in favour of LSG. The contest highlighted the importance of navigating the middle overs effectively on a spin-friendly Eden Gardens pitch, which historically favors chasing teams. Rath’s bowling performance was noteworthy, but also brought renewed attention to his on-field celebrations, which have previously resulted in fines.
