Tue Apr 08 04:30:00 UTC 2025: ## GM Unveils All-Electric Corvette Concept in UK Amidst Trade War and EV Slowdown

**DETROIT –** General Motors (GM) unveiled a striking all-electric Chevrolet Corvette concept car on Monday, coinciding with the opening of a new design studio in England. The futuristic concept, resembling an IMSA race car, features a nod to the classic Corvette with its split window design reminiscent of the 1963 Sting Ray. While not intended for production, GM emphasized the concept highlights its ongoing commitment to the European market, particularly as it expands its Cadillac EV presence and prepares to launch Corvette sales in Europe.

The unveiling comes at a challenging time, with ongoing trade tensions and tariffs impacting the global automotive industry. GM’s move follows its 2017 sale of its European Opel division and represents an attempt to re-establish its foothold in the region. The concept car is part of a larger global design project, with more Corvette concepts planned for 2025. GM already operates design studios in Detroit, Los Angeles, Shanghai, and Seoul.

While GM announced plans in 2022 to produce an all-electric Corvette as part of its 2035 EV-only goal, the company currently only offers a hybrid version, the E-Ray. A GM spokesperson declined to comment on the timeline for an all-electric Corvette, suggesting potential reevaluation of product plans amidst slower-than-anticipated EV adoption. The concept car serves as a gauge of consumer interest and showcases future technological directions for the brand.
