**Bengaluru, April 7, 2025** – In a move to curb illegal dumping, Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister D.K. Shivakumar has ordered the installation of GPS tracking devices on all vehicles transporting construction and demolition waste in the city. The directive follows the Minister’s observation of numerous trucks illegally dumping waste by the roadside.

The Minister witnessed firsthand the problem while visiting Sumanahalli, where he reportedly saw 10-15 truckloads of waste improperly disposed of. He has instructed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and police to monitor the unloading of construction waste and take strict action against any violations. The GPS tracking system will allow authorities to monitor the movement of waste vehicles and ensure proper disposal at designated sites.
