**Jaipur, Rajasthan:** A horrific incident in Jaipur’s Nahargarh area left two dead and eight injured after a drunk driver plowed through a crowded street. Usman, driving a Creta at speeds estimated between 70-80 kmph, lost control of his vehicle around 9 pm on Monday. CCTV footage shows the car careening down the road, striking pedestrians, vehicles, and roadside objects.
Eyewitnesses recounted terrifying scenes. Dipendra, whose motorcycle was struck, described how the car dragged his bike for approximately 20 meters after hitting a young girl. Another citizen bravely pursued the speeding car on a scooter, eventually managing to grab the steering wheel and help bring the vehicle to a halt after it crashed into a roadblock. Usman fled the scene but was apprehended shortly after.
Among the injured is a three-year-old girl. The injured were immediately transported to the hospital. BJP MLA Balmukund Acharya is calling for increased police checkpoints in the area, while former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot demanded the strictest possible prosecution of the accused. Police from the Nahargarh station are investigating the incident.
