PUDUCHERRY, April 8, 2025 – Puducherry Cybercrime police have arrested two individuals, Parveen and Gaurav, for running a fraudulent call centre in Haryana that targeted job seekers. The arrests followed a complaint by Sivanesh, a Puducherry resident who lost ₹1.74 lakh to the scam.
Sivanesh, actively searching for employment, received a call from someone posing as an HR representative from a prominent IT company. Believing the opportunity to be legitimate, he made several payments to the scammers’ bank account. When he received no further communication, he filed a police report.
Following the complaint, the Cybercrime police, under the direction of Senior Superintendent of Police Narra Chaitanya, launched an investigation. They traced the accused to Haryana and apprehended them. Police investigations revealed that Gaurav, who previously worked at a fake call centre in Noida, had established his own operation with accomplice Sandeep, defrauding hundreds of job seekers. Sandeep remains at large and is the subject of an ongoing search.
SSP Chaitanya stated that Gaurav’s prior experience in a similar scam contributed to his ability to execute the current operation. The arrested individuals have been brought to Puducherry to face charges.
