**Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh:** A 19-year-old woman has filed a complaint with police in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, alleging she was gang-raped by 23 men over a six-day period. Police have arrested six suspects so far, with investigations ongoing to apprehend the remaining 17.

According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vidush Saxena, the victim went out with some young men on March 29th. When she failed to return home, her family filed a missing person report on April 4th. Police located and rescued her, but at that time, she did not disclose the alleged rape. She subsequently revealed the details to her family, leading to the filing of a formal complaint on April 6th.

The victim alleges that between March 29th and April 4th, the accused took her to various hotels and hookah bars, repeatedly gang-raping her. The police have filed a case against 23 individuals, 17 of whom remain at large. The six arrested individuals were apprehended on Sunday.

The victim’s mother’s statement details a harrowing account of her daughter being abducted, drugged, and assaulted by various groups of men over several days at different locations across the city. The accused are alleged to have used threats and intimidation to keep her captive.

Police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those related to gang rape, kidnapping, and criminal intimidation. The investigation is underway, and authorities are committed to apprehending all those involved. The victim is receiving medical and psychological support.
