**Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh –** Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has urged residents to adopt healthier lifestyles to combat the state’s high disease burden. Addressing a press conference, Naidu highlighted that cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, respiratory illnesses, and other conditions account for 80% of the state’s health challenges. He recommended a significant reduction in salt, oil, and sugar consumption, suggesting a family of four limit their monthly intake to 600 grams of salt, two liters of oil, and three kilograms of sugar. He also encouraged daily exercise (at least 30 minutes of walking) and daily meditation or prayer for stress reduction.
To improve healthcare access and disease prevention, Naidu announced the launch of the Digital Health Nerve Centre (DiNC) pilot program in Kuppam on June 15th. This initiative, developed in collaboration with Tata MD and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to create 100% Ayushman Bharat Health Accounts (ABHA), integrate electronic health records, and provide citizens with health advice and telemedicine consultations through a dedicated app. The program will also utilize advanced analytics for disease prediction and preventive health awareness. The pilot program will expand across the state over the next two years based on its success.
Furthermore, Naidu revealed plans for a mega global medi-city in Amaravati, aiming to attract top hospitals and boost health tourism. This project is part of a larger national initiative, and Andhra Pradesh has offered 200 acres for the development. Potential investment from Qatar is also being explored.
