**Madurai, April 7, 2025** – Significant rainfall across Tamil Nadu has boosted water levels in several key dams, according to data released today. The Mullaperiyar dam currently stands at 113.70 feet (maximum 142 ft), while the Vaigai dam is at 56.69 feet (maximum 71 ft). Heavy rainfall was recorded in various areas, with Elumalai receiving the highest at 80.6 mm in the 24 hours ending Monday morning. Other areas reporting substantial rainfall include Shanmuganadhi dam (57.4 mm), Uthamapalayam (46.3 mm), and several other locations. The combined storage in Periyar credit is reported at 2,108.72 mcft. While the inflow into both dams is substantial, discharge remains lower, indicating water conservation efforts.
