Mon Apr 07 01:57:59 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu CM Skips PM Modi’s Event, Sparking BJP Outrage

**Madurai, Tamil Nadu –** Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s absence from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official engagements in the state on Sunday has ignited a fierce political clash. The BJP has accused Mr. Stalin of insulting the Prime Minister and demanded a public apology.

Mr. Stalin, who was inaugurating a government hospital in Udhagamandalam (Ooty), cited prior commitments as the reason for missing Mr. Modi’s events in Rameswaram, where the Prime Minister inaugurated the new Pamban Bridge and other projects worth over ₹8,000 crore. He stated that he had informed the Prime Minister of his inability to attend.

However, BJP state president K. Annamalai dismissed Mr. Stalin’s explanation as a “drama,” accusing the Chief Minister of prioritizing politics over protocol. Mr. Annamalai criticized Mr. Stalin for not welcoming Mr. Modi, asserting that it was the Chief Minister’s duty to do so, especially given that the Prime Minister travelled directly from Sri Lanka to Tamil Nadu for the event. He further alleged that Mr. Stalin chose Ooty over Rameswaram to avoid the heat.

The BJP strongly condemned Mr. Stalin’s actions, claiming they constituted an insult to the Prime Minister and the people of Tamil Nadu. They demanded an immediate apology from the Chief Minister. Mr. Stalin, in his defense, highlighted the ongoing parliamentary delimitation exercise and his efforts to address concerns regarding it.
