**Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, April 7, 2025** – A tragic accident claimed the lives of three people, including two young children, in Namakkal district on Monday evening. S. Ilanchiyam (55), a farmer, and her grandchildren, A. Sujith (5) and A. Ivili (3), were electrocuted while working on a leased farmland.
Preliminary investigations indicate the children received a fatal electric shock after touching a chain-link fence near an electric pole. Ilanchiyam, attempting to rescue them, also suffered a fatal shock. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. near Andapuram, Mohanur.
Mohanur police arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies, and transported them to Namakkal Government Medical College Hospital for post-mortem examinations. A case has been registered, and the police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
