**Tallahassee, FL** – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee has confirmed an EF-0 tornado touched down along Tram Road in eastern Leon County on Monday afternoon. A survey team investigated damage reported near the intersection of Tram Road and St. Joe Road following severe storms that moved through the area around 4:09 PM.
While initial radar imagery showed a brief period of weak counterclockwise rotation in the atmosphere, this alone wasn’t sufficient to confirm a tornado. The NWS team conducted a ground survey to assess damage and determine if the rotation reached the ground. Their findings confirmed a tornado with wind speeds ranging from 80 to 85 mph.
The tornado was short-lived, causing damage in a localized area. The NWS emphasized that straight-line winds can also produce significant damage, and their investigation was crucial to distinguish between tornadic and straight-line wind damage. Further details regarding the extent of the damage are expected to be released by the NWS.
