**Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, April 7, 2025** – A four-year-old boy, B. Isaac, was tragically killed by a stray dog attack on Sunday evening in Idwa Nagar, Guntur. The child, returning from a Sunday prayer, was attacked and bitten on the neck. Despite being rushed to Guntur Government General Hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The incident has prompted outrage and swift action from local officials. Guntur Municipal Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu visited the grieving parents, Rani and Nagaraju, offering government support and promising a special drive to control stray dogs in Swarnabharathi Nagar and surrounding areas. A Deputy Commissioner-level inquiry has been launched to determine accountability.
Several ministers, including Union Minister Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, MLA Dr. Burla Ramanjaneyulu, Minister for Municipal Administration P. Narayana, and District In-charge Minister Kandula Durgesh, expressed condolences and pledged to address the issue. Guntur West MLA Galla Madhavi also assured government action to tackle the city’s stray dog problem.
Officials acknowledged challenges in stray dog control, citing resistance from animal rights activists and assaults on dog control staff. To address the problem, the Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) is establishing a new Animal Birth Control (ABC) centre near Thakkellapadu at a cost of ₹47 lakh.
