Mon Apr 07 09:47:24 UTC 2025: ## Anantapur Activists Protest Privatization of Government Medical Colleges
**ANANTAPUR, April 7, 2025** – Health activists in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, are protesting the potential privatization of upcoming government medical colleges under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. On World Health Day, the Praja Arogya Vedika and Prajarogya Parirakshana Samithi organized a signature campaign garnering support from approximately 200 citizens.
The activists’ demands include preventing the handover of new medical colleges to private entities, recognizing healthcare as a public right, and establishing a separate budget and administration for the Anantapur government super-specialty hospital. Former MLC Geyanand inaugurated the campaign held outside the Government General Hospital. The groups argue against the PPP model for medical colleges, advocating instead for continued government control.
