**New Delhi, April 7, 2025** – The Supreme Court of India has agreed to urgently hear petitions challenging the constitutionality of the recently passed Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025. The decision follows an appeal by senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, who argued for expedited consideration of the petitions.
Several organizations, including the Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind and the Samastha Kerala Jamiathul Ulema, have filed petitions alleging the Act infringes upon constitutional rights and religious freedoms.
