Mon Apr 07 13:21:43 UTC 2025: ## Yadgir City to Receive Continuous Potable Water Supply
**YADGIR, April 7, 2025** – Yadgir city will soon have access to a continuous supply of potable water, thanks to a new ₹53.16 crore project drawing water from the Bhima River. The project, launched Monday with a foundation stone-laying ceremony by Minister for Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, is funded under the centrally sponsored Amrit 2.0 scheme.
The long-awaited project has received administrative approval and will provide potable water to all 31 wards of the city. Improvements include new pipelines based on water pressure, division of the city into six water supply ranges, and a nearly completed water purification unit near the Bhima River. A new overhead tank with a 7.50 lakh litre capacity will also be built.
Minister Darshanapur confirmed that similar projects are underway in Shahapur and nearing completion in Shorapur, ensuring wider access to clean drinking water in the region. Tunnur MLA Channareddy Patil highlighted the project’s significance, promising a five-day-a-week water supply for citizens. The ceremony was attended by several local officials, including the Chairperson of Yadgir CMC, the chairman of YUDA, and the Deputy Commissioner.
