Mon Apr 07 15:02:25 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Launches Statewide Digital Property Record System
**Kalaburagi, Karnataka – April 7, 2025** – The Karnataka government launched a statewide digital property record system, e-khata, aimed at streamlining property documentation and boosting rural development. Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge announced the initiative Monday during a launch event in Kalaburagi.
The e-khata system digitizes traditional khata certificates, providing a more efficient and secure method for managing property ownership. Minister Kharge highlighted the success of a pilot program, noting that 1.15 million rural properties have been added to the tax register in the past 18 months, generating ₹12.72 billion in property tax revenue. This revenue, he stated, will strengthen panchayats and fund rural infrastructure development. The system builds upon existing digital property registration platforms, e-Swathu (rural) and e-Aasthi (urban).
In addition to the e-khata launch, Minister Kharge announced plans to develop a smart city blueprint for Kalaburagi within the next two months. This initiative will encompass city beautification, smart road development, and upgrades to the sewage system and other infrastructure. The event was attended by several local officials, including MLAs and MLCs.
