**Mysuru, April 7, 2025** – A new campaign, “Sthree Chetana,” was launched in H.D. Kote taluk on Monday to increase women’s participation in the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). The initiative aims to raise female participation in the MGNREGA from the current 50% to 60% across Mysuru district.
The three-month campaign, rolled out across all gram panchayats in H.D. Kote, focuses on educating women about the scheme’s benefits and encouraging greater involvement. This initiative is part of the state government’s effort to make the MGNREGA more women-friendly and empower women economically and socially through guaranteed employment.
Dharanesh S.P., executive officer of H.D. Kote taluk panchayat, launched the campaign and announced a revised daily wage rate under MGNREGA, increasing from ₹349 to ₹370 per person, effective April 1st. The campaign’s success will be vital in achieving the target of 60% female participation in the national employment program.
