**Kochi, April 7, 2025** – The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) and the University College London (UCL) will host the first annual meeting of the ‘People-Centred Tsunami Early Warning for the Indian Coastlines (PCTWIN)’ project from April 8th to 11th in Kochi.
The PCTWIN project, launched in February 2024 and jointly funded by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and India’s Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), aims to enhance India’s tsunami early warning system. The initiative integrates scientific expertise with community-based approaches to improve disaster preparedness and resilience along India’s vulnerable coastlines.
Approximately 30 international participants and 20 community members from Edavanakkad panchayat will attend the meeting, which includes a stakeholder workshop. A second annual meeting is planned to further collaborative efforts and community engagement.
