Mon Apr 07 14:38:42 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for 2013 Murder

**Hyderabad, April 7, 2025** – A 33-year-old man, K. Shiva, has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his partner, Swapna, in 2013. The VI Additional Sessions Judge, Secunderabad, S. Sreedevi, delivered the verdict on Monday.

Shiva, a daily-wage laborer, was found guilty under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. He was also fined ₹5,000, with an additional three months imprisonment in default of payment.

According to investigators, Shiva and Swapna were in a long-term relationship despite Swapna’s marriage to another man. On December 23, 2013, following an argument and reportedly under the influence of alcohol, Shiva set Swapna ablaze while she slept in their rented room in Hasmathpet, Bowenpally. Despite neighbours’ efforts to save her, Swapna succumbed to her injuries.

The case, initially registered at Bowenpally Police Station and investigated by former Inspector RR Rangaiah, concluded with the prosecution led by Additional Public Prosecutor Upender.
