**Chennai, April 7, 2025** – The Citizen Consumer and Civic Action Group (CAG), in partnership with Asar Social Impact Advisors, is launching a community outreach program to encourage the adoption of solar rooftops in Chennai. The initiative aims to address residents’ concerns and clarify misconceptions surrounding solar energy installations.
The program kicked off with a workshop for the Kasturba Nagar Residents Association in March and will continue with similar events in Perambur, Sastri Nagar, and Sholinganallur in the coming months. CAG is facilitating meetings with residents’ welfare associations (RWAs) on weekends to discuss the feasibility and benefits of solar energy.
K. Vishnu Mohan Rao, CAG’s program lead, stated that the group is connecting homeowners with existing solar systems to share experiences and best practices. A practical guide addressing cost, energy consumption, and metering issues has also been created. Further, CAG plans to engage with banks to facilitate loan access for residents interested in installing solar panels.
