**Hyderabad, April 7, 2025** – A three-day Seed Festival concluded in Anmaspalli, Telangana, with a strong call for legal measures to combat adulterated seeds and protect indigenous varieties. Telangana Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Commission chairman M. Kodanda Reddy highlighted the need to implement a 20-point declaration aimed at benefiting farmers. He also emphasized the critical role of women in seed conservation and the importance of mixed cropping and crop rotation.
The festival, organized by the Council for Green Revolution (CGR) and Bharat Seed Swaraj Manch, saw the unveiling of a new book, “Arogyaniki Aaharam-Bhadrathaku Vithanam,” authored by agricultural policy analyst Donthi Narasimha Reddy. Former Telangana State Election Commissioner V. Nagi Reddy noted the shift from farmers’ traditional seed saving practices to reliance on corporate seed companies. Noted lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja pledged to create songs celebrating farmers and seeds. The event also recognized various agricultural experts with certificates. A diverse group of participants including farmers, students, and academics attended the festival.
