**New Delhi, [Date]** – The price of domestic LPG cylinders has increased by Rs 50 across the board, impacting both subsidized and non-subsidized consumers, Union Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced today. This means a 14.2-kg cylinder will now cost Rs 553 for Ujjwala beneficiaries (poor households receiving free LPG connections) and Rs 853 for general consumers in Delhi. Prices may vary slightly across states due to differing local taxes. The last price revision occurred in March 2024, when prices were reduced by Rs 100.
The announcement follows a Rs 41 reduction in commercial LPG cylinder prices last week, benefiting businesses such as restaurants and hotels. Interestingly, the government also announced a hike in excise duty on petrol and diesel – Rs 13 per litre and Rs 10 per litre respectively – effective April 8th, 2025. However, this increase will be absorbed by oil marketing companies, ensuring no change in the retail selling price of petrol and diesel for consumers. This offsetting measure accounts for the recent fall in international oil prices.
