**Madurai, April 7, 2025** – The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has ordered a swift investigation into allegations of financial irregularities and abuse of power against M. Davamani Christober, Principal and Secretary of The American College. The directive comes in response to a petition filed by retired Associate Professor R. Prabahar Vedamanickam, who alleges Christober has held his position for over 12 years, exceeding his stipulated three-year term.
Vedamanickam’s petition accuses Christober of financial misconduct, misappropriation of funds, and amassing disproportionate assets. He claims previous complaints filed with the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) and the Directorate of Collegiate Education have been ignored.
The State government, while acknowledging an ongoing preliminary inquiry, assured the court that the investigation will be completed expeditiously. Christober’s counsel denied the allegations and expressed willingness to cooperate fully with the inquiry. Justice P. Dhanabal issued the order directing the DVAC to finalize its investigation as quickly as possible.
