Mon Apr 07 02:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Carnival Cruise Line Unveils Ambitious Five-Year Innovation Plan
**Miami, FL** – Carnival Cruise Line today announced a bold five-year strategic plan dubbed the “Innovation Itinerary,” aimed at solidifying its position as the cruise industry leader. President Christine Duffy revealed details at a media briefing aboard the *Carnival Celebration* in PortMiami. The plan centers on three pillars: enhancing its fleet, creating compelling experiences and destinations, and fostering greater guest loyalty.
A key element is the introduction of two new Excel-class ships. *Carnival Festivale*, launching spring 2027 from Port Canaveral, will feature three innovative zones, including music-themed venues and immersive experiences. Designed with families in mind, it will boast nearly 70% more connecting rooms than its predecessors and a dedicated space for the line’s youngest cruisers. *Carnival Festivale* will also debut Sunsation Point, a massive top-deck water park replacing the BOLT coaster, with features including six slides, splash pads, and a nighttime entertainment program – a first for Carnival. New dining options, developed in collaboration with Emeril Lagasse, will also be introduced.
Following *Carnival Festivale*, *Carnival Tropicale* will debut in spring 2028, incorporating many of *Festivale*’s features along with new concepts. Beyond the Excel class, Carnival is building three massive Project Ace ships (230,000 gross tons each) due for delivery between 2029 and 2033, capable of carrying nearly 8,000 guests.
The Innovation Itinerary also encompasses destination enhancements. Celebration Key, Carnival’s exclusive private destination, opens in July. Half Moon Cay will undergo expansion, including a pier to accommodate larger ships, while Mahogany Bay in Roatan will be renamed Isla Tropicale and expanded.
Finally, Carnival will revamp its loyalty program, with details expected this summer. The line also plans to return to year-round operations in Mobile, Alabama in spring 2027, and is exploring deploying a larger ship to Baltimore. Upgrades to existing ships, including modernized décor and new dining and entertainment options, are also planned. The company emphasizes its commitment to serving secondary markets and offering short cruises, catering to a wider range of travelers.
