Sun Apr 06 23:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Red Sox-Cardinals Game Postponed, Doubleheader Scheduled for Sunday
**BOSTON, MA –** Persistent rain forced the postponement of Saturday’s Boston Red Sox-St. Louis Cardinals game at Fenway Park. The game will now be played as part of a Sunday doubleheader.
Fans holding tickets to Saturday’s game can use them for the first game of the doubleheader, scheduled for 1:35 p.m. ET. The second game will be played as scheduled under the Sunday Night Baseball spotlight at 7:10 p.m. ET.
The postponement came after a two-hour and eight-minute delay. Red Sox lefty Sean Newcomb, a Massachusetts native making his first Fenway Park start in a Red Sox uniform, will now pitch Game 1. The Red Sox have yet to announce their starting pitcher for Game 2. Richard Fitts, originally slated to start Saturday, will be moved.
Cardinals pitcher Andre Pallante, who briefly warmed up on the field Saturday despite the rain, will take the mound for Game 1. Pallante impressed in his season debut, limiting the Twins to four hits and two earned runs over five innings. Veteran right-hander Miles Mikolas will start Game 2 for St. Louis. Mikolas previously defeated the Red Sox at Fenway in a Sunday Night Baseball game last year.
The postponement comes after a high-scoring 13-9 Red Sox victory in Friday’s home opener.
