**Bengaluru, April 7, 2025** – Bengaluru police have launched a suo motu investigation into a sexual assault after a CCTV video of the incident went viral on social media. The video, recorded in a narrow alleyway in BTM Layout, shows a man assaulting a woman walking with a companion at night.

While the victim has yet to file a complaint and remains unidentified, police have registered a case against the unknown assailant. The video depicts the man approaching the two women from behind before assaulting one of them. The women scream, and the man flees the scene.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East Division), Sarah Fathima, confirmed the suo motu case and appealed to the victims to come forward and assist the investigation. Police are actively working to identify and apprehend the suspect.
